***IT'S OFFICIAL***
well, i don't know how i did it, but i convinced/tricked/conned/or maybe she just loves me! either way, I asked Elyse to marry me last night and she said YES!!!
We started off the evening at Texas Roadhouse, which is where we had our first date. It was a nice dinner, i was trying to throw her off the track by telling her we should go ring shopping sometime next week :D
after dinner we went out to Tempe Town Lake and rented a paddle boat. We boated around out on the lake for a while as the sun was starting to set. I had also wrapped a wooden picture frame that said 'love' in wooden letters down the side with 3 picture openings. i put 2 pictures of us together and a letter that i had i written to her that at the end said 'baby, will you marry me?' while we were out on the lake i had her open the present, and then as she was reading the letter i pulled out the ring (which i had sneakily hidden in my camera case) and precariously got down on one knee, especially careful not to tip the boat, which probably would have ruined the 'mood.'
i told her i loved her and couldn't imagine life without her and asked her to marry me. SHE SAID YES (obviously, cause i probably wouldn't blog about asking her to marry me and her turning me down, or pushing me into the water or something like that)!!
I love Elyse so much and feel like the luckiest man alive!!!
The wedding is going to be here in Arizona on Jan 24th in the Mesa Temple. I'd love for you all to come, so calendar it in if you can!

Tribute to Lester O Moore
As this is probably a hard day for many i felt inclined to jot down somewhat of a tribute to my Grandfather. Finding the right words are difficult as Lester Owen Moore was such an amazing man who lived and loved life to the fullest.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and so much more to all those who knew him. His wife and family was always number one in his life, and he constantly put others before himself. I hammered my first nail into a 2x4 in his front yard, learned to roller skate as a child with him cheering me on, dove for the first time in his swimming pool, climbed atop the old train at Pioneer Park with him by my side, prepared for battle with his rubber-band guns and scaled the mulberry tree countless times in his backyard. There were hours and hours of chess, stratego, poker and numerous other games played in the kitchen. He made the best grilled cheese sandwiches and always had enough chocolate on hand to share. His smile was infectious and he always knew how to cheer you up when no one else could. He prided himself on his handwriting. He loved to play the piano and captivated audiences as he performed Boogie Woogie Blues and Body or Soul. His gentle touch commanded the upmost respect. Never once did he utter an unkind word or raise his voice in anger. He had an unshakeable testimony in his Savior Jesus Christ and served faithfully in many callings throughout his life. His bravery was exemplified in his service in the US Air Force. His love of laughter was eminent in his constant sense of humor and frequent use of practical jokes.
These words do no justice to the amazing man he was and he is missed daily by all, but not only does he live on in our hearts and minds, but i believe he is looking down from above to help, guide and cheer us on as he did when he was on this earth. What a beloved day when we shall embrace again. May we live in such a way to make him proud and honor his name.

favorite movie quote...
so i'm just sitting here at the ASU noble sciences library; yes i should be studying, ready one of my textbooks, doing some homework or pretty much anything more productive, possibly even sleeping since i can't seem to stay awake this morning. but no, i'm listening to music and thinking...
thinking of life in general i thought about one of my favorite quotes. i have many mind you, but this one was on my mind today...it's from the most amazing movie called 'Gladiator.' so i was thinking....what is your favorite quote/lyric/phrase or short story and why?
to those who feel inclined post away....

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."
-for those of you who know the story, i love this quote because it exemplifies the power and determination he had. he was a roman general who was sentenced to death because he stood up for his beliefs. his wife and kids were murdered and he essentially lost everything. despite all this he refused to give up and made the best of his life. i once read that life is not about being dealt the right hand, but is about how we play the hand we're dealt. just some words for thought.

It's up to you America...
So my family recently got me hooked watching so you think you can dance...where dancers try their luck at becoming America's favorite dancer. And the winner is basically chosen by whoever gets the most votes each night. So in that same spirit, I'll leave the decision up to you America.

I've been cutting my own hair for the last year or so, but tonight I asked Nicole (my beloved sister) to cut my hair. She wanted to style it also, so I let her go at it. What do y'all think?

don't show this to the kids...
so sat i was working in grandmother's yard....the typical....just cleaning the pool, mowing the lawn. but there was something i found out about grandmother that i never knew before. now i knew grandmother did a lot of cooking from scratch, BUT i had no idea how 'from scratch' she started!!!!
This may look like an innocent looking gazeebo, that we've had many fun family gatherings around. however lets investigate and take a closer look...

...could it be true?! Take a closer look.

I hope this ghastly site hasn't brought you to tears or ruined your future appetite....however, who knew grandmother was so resourceful, and what's more shocking, we now know the TRUE ingredients to her mince-meat pie and meatloaf!!!

So i've been studying and taking an MCAT prep class this summer...it's pretty intense and is a ton of work just to keep up! Needless to say I've spent many hours doing fun things like reading my many text books, doing homework and keeping up on current events.
So this weekend I decided I'd get out and go do something fun....i knew i shoulda stayed home in my secluded little study niche
what's even worse is it was a ward singles activity =0

musical trivia...

So i have a few musical trivia questions for ya pertaining to some of my favorite songs...the winner gets, well....recognition on my blog.
ps if you just google the lyrics THAT'S CHEATING!
1. **We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again, so open up i'm climbing in.**
2. **Well it seems like things are only getting better Well it seems like we can never catch a break. Just keep a hold on me, don't let go...**
3. **feel my heart with song, let me sing forever more. you are all i long for, worship and adore...**
4. **waiting for attention, i'm not. cut it to the left and i rock. need an invitation, i don't. slide it to the right and i roll.**
5. **and the battle has begun, this many lost but tell me who has won. the trenches built within our hearts, and mothers' children, brothers sisters torn apart.**
-let the games begin

a little delayed.....but some surgery fun!

This is actually my gangster pose, you might think those hats are kinda weak, but in the surgi center they are bomb! Not every patient gets to wear one actually...

...now you might think i'm drugged in this picture, but i'm actually not...least i don't remember being so at that point
Just chilling like i own the place
This is my surgeon, he was pretty cool....he even colored on my stomach. cept i wish he hadn't with the permanent marker

Everything went great until the nurse took me off roading and accidentally dumped me outta the wheelchair as we collided with the cement median

New Years Eve Celebration @ The Hyatt's...
So i put together a few video clips of what new years eve (which we celebrated on Dec 30th). It's my first video editing really, so please bear with me, and enjoy :D
A short story...
So the dishwasher went out at the Hyatt home a few weeks ago (& no I don't mean Mom - the actual appliance) so with Mom's Christmas present from work a shiny, new dishwasher was purchased. Of course Mom was hesitant to allow her favorite son David to instal it...i believe her words were "i don't trust you to touch our new dishwasher, you'll likely break it before it sees one wash." Harsh!!!
Anyway when the plumber didn't show, she had no other choice than to have David take a look at it...maybe he wasn't so useless she thinks outloud...
Everything was going smoothly. The plumbing was old, unable to be removed so cutting the old tubing was necessary. David dotted his i's and crossed his t's...the valve to the sink was shut off, the power turned off...all was well...that is until the 'clean' water line was snipped and water gushed from the cut end!!! It appeared that the valve to the kitchen had only one setting....ON!!!
Thinking fast David raced to the laundry room gathered up all the clean clothes and towels nearby and threw them underneath the spraying hose! Maybe not the best of idea. Next he sprinted outside, desperately trying to remember where the main water valve to the house is. Fortunately it was in plain sight and quickly turned off. So David went diligently back to work enlisting the help of his good friend Tyler Pace who came over to see David's sister Nicole but found himself mopping up the floor and helping David in his noble cause.
Of course this story has a happy ending because 'the big bad dishwasher job' was a success....the dishwasher (not Mom) was installed and is working like a busy beaver.
Needless to say, here's a few pictures of the new dishwasher, about half of the towels i used to mop up the slight flooding of our kitchen, and I also got a netherdrake in this game I play and it looks really, really cool...
